The first event in a continuing series of small group discussions with visiting speakers. This initiative, inspired by Wei Ji Ma's "Growing Up In Science" series at NYU (<http://www.cns.nyu.edu/events/growingupinscience/>), aims to allow WiP members and members of the department opportunities for candid conversations about academia *beyond* a speaker's work. These discussions will be shaped by questions relating to unfiltered experiences in academia, including failures and guilty pleasures, as well as tokens of excitement and gratitude.

**The inaugural event was with Ayanna Thomas.**

Ayanna is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Tufts who studies aging and memory, particularly episodic memory retrieval failures and biases. Ayanna is also the Director of the Graduate Program.
