The first event in a continuing series of small group discussions with visiting speakers. This initiative, inspired by Wei Ji Ma's "Growing Up In Science" series at NYU (http://www.cns.nyu.edu/events/growingupinscience/), aims to allow WiP members and members of the department opportunities for candid conversations about academia beyond a speaker's work. These discussions will be shaped by questions relating to unfiltered experiences in academia, including failures and guilty pleasures, as well as tokens of excitement and gratitude.
The inaugural event was with Ayanna Thomas.
Ayanna is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Tufts who studies aging and memory, particularly episodic memory retrieval failures and biases. Ayanna is also the Director of the Graduate Program.
