Emma Laurent

Co-President

Emma is a graduate student working with Elizabeth Phelps. Informed by both basic neuroscientific and cognitive theory, Emma's research combines diverse neuroimaging techniques with behavioral measures to elucidate the neurobiological underpinnings of memory updating in humans. Parallel to her academic interests, Emma is passionate about improving the representation, visibility, and respect for women and gender minorities in science. Emma has been a member of WiP since her first year in the department. Getting to know its network of incredible women has not only been one of the most rewarding experiences of her time at Harvard, but critical to her professional development. As co-president of WiP, Emma hopes to further build the community and create an environment where women and gender minorities feel supported by one another and empowered to do science.
